Facebook groups allow you to connect with other like-minded people. They are becoming increasingly important for those who want to grow as a community on Facebook. So how do you create a Facebook group?
Choose your Facebook group name and privacy settings
To get started, click on "Group" under the "CREATE" section at the bottom of the left sidebar of Facebook. If possible, look at here and you'll find the same option in the drop-down menu in the upper right corner of any Facebook page.
Next, fill out the basic information in the pop-up by choosing a name for your Facebook group (you can change it later). Enter the names of friends you want to add or email addresses of people you want to invite to your Facebook group (you must add or invite at least one person). Select the privacy setting for your Facebook group (public, closed or secret).
Fill in your Facebook group information
Go to your group settings by clicking on the three-dot button under your cover photo and then choose "Edit Group Settings". You'll need to start by adding a cover photo. The ideal size for the cover photo is 820px wide by 462px high. On the desktop, Facebook trims the cover photo a bit at the top and bottom.
Next, select a group type to help people understand what it is. Write a description to further explain to people what the group is about.
You have a maximum of 3,000 characters for your group description (you can use emojis). Add (up to five) tags to help people find your group.
Add your location if you want to create a local group. This makes it easier for people searching for Facebook groups in your area to find your Facebook group. Customize your URL.
